My New Trainer

Here he is, ready to go on the maiden voyage yesterday. We went out for about 35 minutes. Started with a nice short ride. Actually, after what Rotten had said, I planned on a much shorter 1st trip. The only complaints from Sam-man came at stop signs. He didn't like it when the train came to a halt. We went to the multi-use trail and headed along the river. Crossed some snow cover sections. Had some water crossings. Stopped a few miles away from home at the backside of Dairy Queen. Hey, I'm a clyde, seemed like a good spot to stop. But, since I had no wallet on me, we didn't go in. This was a good thing for me. I may always be in the same division, but I'm working on slowly becoming a smaller member of that division. We turned around and made our way home. Still happy all the way. Trailer pulled great and I'm very happy that I didn't go the cheapskate route. Not that I paid anywhere close to retail for it, but I made the right choice. Rolls great, tracks great, seems comfortable for the rider. Is it noticeable while pulling? On the flats, not really. Uphill? Well, let's just say that 50 pounds in tow makes a bit of a difference. This will serve as a good reminder of one of my goals. We got home, unloaded, went in the house and Sam didn't even want to take off his helmet. Then, last evening as we were leaving for Grandma and Grandpa's for an overnight stay (date night for us) Sam walked to the trailer and wanted to get in. He did the same thing this morning when he got home as he was walking through the garage. Guess he truly likes it. Now it's time to prep Julie's bike. When she gets home from a grocery run and Sam wakes up from his nap, the whole fam-damily is going for a bike ride.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all ya'all.

Once upon a time...

a very close friend of mine orated something about me during the weekend of his wedding. It was a huge compliment. With all of the changes in my life, I'm not sure that I'm living up to that standard that I've set for myself in all areas of my environments. I need to re-evaluate and make the necessary adjustments.

Little Man is Ready

It fits. Even did the "Shakey Sam" dance at the store to make sure his bucket stayed in place.

Trailer will be here on Wednesday. There may be a trip to the DoubleB homestead in the near future to check out the fresh batches.

So the question becomes, who will tire sooner: Sam in his Croozer 737 or dad spinning (mashing) circles?

Yesterday Did It

I may not be able to ride the trainer anymore this year. Being outside yesterday has me wanting more. I'll just need to find some better clothing to keep warm during the six weeks more of winter.

Although it doesn't show real well here, Sam did his first outdoor face plant today. While he is walking pretty well now, the downhill slope of the driveway proved to be his demise. A few bleeding cuts on the nose, a bit of a bruise on the bridge of his nose, and some dirt in the mouth. A quick clean up from Mom and he was right back at it.

In other news, in case any of you were wondering, trainers still do not mimic hills. I had a choice today. Up to an hour on the trainer, or 45 minutes outside. I choose the latter. It was 39 degrees and sunny, there really was no choice. I got a quick loop in. The only mistake I made was not having a 2nd layer on my arms. It really only came into play during the downhills that were into the wind. Other than that, I called the clothing nearly perfect for the conditions.

Last night brought some more Old-fashioneds. The real kind this time. Grabbed the muddler and some sliced orange, a couple of cherries, some sugar, a few dashes of bitters. Went old school with them. It's been a long, long time since I've done that. The first one was quite tasty. I made a few more just to be sure that the first one wasn't a fluke. It wasn't.

Went up to MC's Tuesday night to watch the boys skate. Was great to see the gang. I may just bring my hockey equipment next time. It's been 8 years since I've played, but hopefully I'll remember how to do it.

Well, that's all for now. Hope all ya' all had a great weekend.
